Do Rescue Dogs Come Vaccinated and Spayed or Neutered?
Every dog we adopt out is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before you take them home, unless a medical issue prevents the surgery.
All of that is included in the adoption fee.
What’s Included Before You Take Your Dog Home
These are the steps we take with every dog before it is adopted out.
- Spay or neuter surgery (unless a medical issue prohibits it)
- All age-appropriate vaccinations
- A microchip, registered to you at adoption
- A heartworm test, if the dog is old enough
- Deworming, plus flea and heartworm prevention that continues until adoption
- A health certificate confirming no contagious disease or internal parasites
- First month of heartworm prevention
- A two-week supply of food, so you have time to transition your dog to a new brand without an upset stomach
We disclose and address any known medical issues before adoption. In the best interests of the adoption succeeding, we don’t want there to be any surprises.
What Happens at Home
Once you’re home, you’re responsible for ongoing vet care, food, and preventive medication. If your dog needs anything beyond what’s already done, we tell you before you adopt.
